HP LaserJet 1100Installing the HP LaserJet 1100 Driver

Why Do You Need To Install the Driver Again?

The Accton Internet Gateway was acting up and wireless users could not reliably log onto the network to access the internet. We, therefore, had no choice but to replace the internet gateway. This was done on 05 August 2003.

However, the new Compex gateway does not include a print server. Hence the necessity to connect the printer to one of the computers in the Medical Staff Lounge and to reconfigure the computers to share this printer with other users on the network.

Dell Dimension v433c

As long as you are not using your own account on this computer, there is no need to install the printer driver as it has already been done for you.

Compaq 2.53 (A) (Windows XP Professional)

The printer driver has already been installed for Guest account users but individual account users will have to install the driver for each of their own accounts. Below are the instructions for this computer.

  1. Click on Start, Printers and Faxes.
  2. Select HP LaserJet 1100 (MS) by single-clicking on it.
  3. Click on File, Set As Default Printer.
  4. Close window.

Notes

  1. You are free to try to install the printer driver into your notebooks/desktops using the above methods. Use the technique for the Gateway Computer as that is the technique for installing a network printer. The procedure for Windows 95/98/Me/XP should not be very different from the technique for Windows 2000. Results not guaranteed.

  2. As the computer will normally be shut down outside of office hours, there will not be any printer services during such times.

  3. The previous instructions Why Can't I Print? and Printing from the Gateway have been superceded by this document and are no longer valid.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
