Installing and Removing Applications on Your Handheld

The Install Tool makes it easy to mark applications or files (such as databases or network configuration files) to install during the next HotSync operation.

Applications or files that you install on your handheld are different than the applications that come pre-installed with the device. Applications, files, and information you store on your handheld reside in RAM (random access memory). If you hard-reset your handheld, the applications you have installed will be deleted.

Use the Install Tool to select applications to install on your handheld during the next HotSync operation.

To use the Install Tool

  1. Open the Install Tool program using one of the following methods:
    § Click the Install button on the Desktop application’s Launch Bar.
    § Click the Start button, highlight Programs, highlight Desktop, and select Install Tool.

To select applications to install

  1. Verify that the correct user account is displayed in the User box.
    § To change the user account, click the User box and select a user account from the list.
  2. Click the Add button.
  3. In the Open dialog box, select the application to install.
  4. Click the OK button in the Open dialog box.
  5. Click the Done button.

To remove applications from the Install list

  1. Click the application in the Install list.
  2. Click the Remove button.
  3. Click the Done button.

The Add button looks first in the \ADD-ON folder inside your C:\Program Files\Palm folder. This folder is a convenient place to store downloaded handheld files.
