General Comments

Before installing any programs, always read any accompanying documentation. Look for *.txt or *.doc files in the appropriate folder. Most commonly, a readme.txt file will be supplied.

In the case of programs supplied as a single *.zip file, you will have to unzip the files first.

Once you have read the documentation, and the software is compatible with both your hardware and other software (especially your OS), you may proceed to install the software.

Unzipping Files

Zip files are in fact one or several files compressed and combined into a single file making it convenient to download or transport.

If you do not have an unzip program, the first thing to do is to install one. I suggest UltimateZip which I have included on the CDROM.

Use your unzip program to unzip the *.zip file into an empty folder of your choice. Make sure that you unzip all the files in the *.zip file. Remember the location of the folder. Write it down if you are the forgetful type. Or you can let UltimateZip Install the program automatically for you. This can only be done if a setup.exe file is found.

Instructions for installing applications from various OS's is given below.

  1. Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP
  2. PocketPC/Windows CE
  3. PalmOS
